About our ranch

Welcome to Pallesen Ranch

Pallesen Hereford Ranch strives to supply high quality cattle that will excel in various areas of any cattleman’s herd. From the pasture to the dinner plate and from the show ring to the sale barn we understand the importance of fault free, fresher appearing market ready cattle. As producers ourselves, Pallesen Hereford Ranch wants to help you improve the efficiency and accuracy of your herd’s genetics.

Being involved in both commercial and purebred production we understand the advantages that both operations offer. We strive to supply the needs of cattlemen who are looking at refining the genetics of their purebred operation as well as those who are considering adding a crossbreeding advantage to their herd. Every purebred Hereford producer knows that Hereford genetics provide fertility, longevity, efficiency and soundness. Just like every cattleman, we aim at continuously improving these traits.  Apart from our purebred operation we believe in the science behind heterosis and aim to produce cattle that will take advantage of breed complementarity and non-additive effects.

At Pallesen Hereford Ranch we won’t turn down an opportunity to help a purebred or commercial cattleman become more profitable. By evaluating current trends and advancing our techniques in improving cattle genetics we ensure that we are doing all we can to progress to the next best thing.

Herd Sires

Our bulls are bred and raised to:

  • Add maternal strength and efficiency to any cowherd
  • Improve longevity and stay-ability
  • Remain structurally sound in big country and tough conditions
  • Work for commercial or registered cattlemen, not just look good on picture day

Females

Our cows run at high elevation—9,000 feet—and they earn their keep. Each summer they travel more than two miles up steep canyon country to reach pasture. This kind of terrain quickly identifies cattle that can’t hold up, and we cull hard for soundness, feet and leg integrity, and long-term durability. Our cattle are managed just like a commercial operation—no creep feed and no shortcuts—because we want bulls that stay athletic, fertile, and useful for the long haul.
